Thoughts on technology
Technology has made it possible to be a part of learning through video conferencing. This has made it possible for people to get an education without leaving home.I am still in aww about how wireless works!I am glad to have the opportunity to take part in a class on technology.I need all the help I can get when it comes to using computers!

Hi Lia...
Welcome to the course...and to blogging!
Our world is shifting. Some use the term "flattening", meaning access to education, jobs and information is not based so much on where you live, but what you have to offer to a global marketplace / community.
As you noted, this course is part of that flattening. Five years ago (a very short time) this course would not have been possible. Five years from now the technology will be old, replaced by virtual spaces. I firmly believe that attending a physical school will be an option for many of our high school and middle school students in the next ten years.
I look forward to reading more of your ideas. Look around you, what else do you see that wasn't possible five years ago? What kinds of skills are kids learning that will help them be global citizens as they work, play and learn in the 21st century?
Jeff
One thing that is constant is change. I am thakful for the opportunity to be able to participate in this course since it is the first that I have ever taken of its kind. I believe technoly has had some great impacts as far as providing an avenue through which people from remote communities can gain access to post secondary education. I agree that it is a wonderful way to deliver lessons that take multiple intelligeance theory into account. I do have some concern about the over dependance on technology, more specifically computers, since this may take some of the heart and emotion out of the process of learning. As long as human interaction does not take a back seat to computing than the more the merrier. Contrary to this I have to admit-I would still rather have an old fashioned coffee stained note left to me on the kitchen table from a loved one as opposed to an email. In addition, as I approach a carreer in teaching I certainly would miss putting stickers on papers-instead having to replace stickers with on screen emoticons and smileys. :)
